Bubba Watson has shown he still has plenty to offer LIV Golf and his RangeGoats team, after bouncing back to form at this week’s Indonesian Masters on the Asian Tour.
Watson endured a dismal season on the LIV setup in 2024, ending the regular season inside the drop zone, therefore relegating him from the league. One possible route back to the breakaway league for 2025 is through the Asian Tour’s International Series, an option Watson has turned to.
The two-time Masters champion ventured away from the LIV league for just the second time in two years (outside of the major championships) this week, and it has been a move that paid off.

Having started his week with a two-under-par 70 and a five-under 67, Watson’s hot form continued into round three, which proved to be a special one for the Florida-born star. A Saturday seven-under 65 was topped off with a hole-in-one at the par-three 11th, a moment to remember for Watson.
Not only did it mark a one on his scorecard, but it also saw tournament organizers donate a house to a local family in need, an initiative set up for the event. A second house was then quickly donated soon after, as Phachara Khongwatmai followed Watson in with an ace of his own.
The green jacket winner’s performance this week is much-needed, with his future with the LIV setup up in the air. Despite his relegation, Watson does have the chance to still compete on the Saudi-funded circuit in 2025, if a business proposal to bosses of the league and his RangeGoats team is accepted.

“It’s been a tough year,” Watson said after being dumped at LIV Chicago in September. “But I think my teammates want me back and I’d like to be back. I know some discussions need to take place and there are some business considerations. We have one of the most popular teams.
“Am I part of that? I think I am and I’m committed to playing better.” Mirror Sports understands that LIV and the RangeGoats are yet to make an official decision on Watson’s future, with updates in regard to the league’s roster and membership expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Whilst it appears likely Watson will return, he has previously admitted he would be open to sit out on the sidelines is no longer good enough to compete. “I told my team if they don’t think I am good enough to play, they can kick me out and we will put another good golfer in my place,” Watson claimed last August following another tough run in 2023.
“I am going to play until they kick me out. I love helping the young guys. They are all trying to be better and also better at golf. I get to influence three golfers in life, they are all parents and young dads. I want to be there for them and if they have a problem, I want to be able to help them.”
