Mike Tyson’s extensive boxing career before facing off against Jake Paul has made him a very wealthy man.

Tyson and Paul finally will be in the ring in Arlington on Nov. 15 after the fight was postponed due to the 58-year-old having a medical issue. After months of verbal jabs between the two men, Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, will now face the former undisputed heavyweight champion in front of thousands in attendance and millions watching at home.

That said, the money Tyson will make in 16 minutes of action, with eight two-minute rounds – which the two men agreed to – pales in comparison to the money he’s made in his career.

Though it is unclear just how much money Tyson has made as a professional boxer and champion, it is estimated that the 58-year-old has earned over $300 million in his career. Of all the fights he’s had in his career, his bout against Lennox Lewis in 2002 is one of his most profitable fights.

Tyson reportedly made over $103 million in his fight against Lewis, even though the former lost the matchup, per Marca. His fight with Lewis accounted for more than a third of the money he earned in his entire career, showing just how important that matchup was.

Additionally, his rematch against Frank Bruno, a single fight with Bruce Seldon and the two times he faced Evander Holyfield all netted him $30 million per fight. Including his fight with Lewis, the aforementioned five fights earned Tyson more than $200 million alone.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are separated as they face off during their ceremonial weigh-in at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory on November 14, 2024 in Irving, Texas. The two are scheduled to meet in a heavyweight bout on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas

Overall, it is estimated that Tyson has earned almost $700 million in his career, including his ventures outside of the ring. However, Tyson declared bankruptcy in 2003, with reports claiming he was $23 million in debt despite his gaudy career earnings.

Since that time, Tyson has rebounded from the financial struggle, with his net worth now estimated at around $10 million thanks to his numerous movie appearances and business pursuits, per Wealthy Gorilla. And now that Tyson’s fight with Paul officially will get underway, it is being reported that the legendary boxer will earn his current net worth in 16 minutes.

While Paul is set to earn $40 million from his fight with Tyson, the latter is expected to earn more than $10 million in this fight. However, Tyson admitted the money he will getting from the fight is not life-changing, especially for a fighter of his stature and history.

“I could be waiting on a check every day from cannabis,” he said as a commentator at an MMA event. “That’s bull—- for me. I’m a man; I want to go out there and I want to expose myself to risk. Sometimes I want to see who I really am. I want to see what I’m really made out of.

“I want to perform in front of the world. To me, that’s all I ever knew how to do since I was 14. This fight is not going to change my life financially enough. This is just what I want to do.”

Additionally, Paul has made it clear there are financial incentives that make it possible for the two to earn more than what has been reported. “There are definitely certain guaranteed figures and other certain built-in bonuses and stuff on top of sales – key performance indicators that trigger certain things,” he said. “This is definitely my biggest payday, of all the fights for sure. It is definitely a healthy payday.”
