Rob Gronkowski has been honored with induction into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, an accolade that celebrates his storied career and connection to his hometown roots. The four-time Super Bowl champion, now 35 years old, was born in Amherst, a suburb of Buffalo, New York. While Gronkowski never played for his hometown Buffalo Bills, the community that raised him took the opportunity to recognize his accomplishments and celebrate one of their own.
The induction ceremony took place earlier this week at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, where Gronkowski was the center of attention during the lavish event.
The former tight end, who played for both the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his illustrious career, received a warm reception from fans, friends, and local sports enthusiasts who gathered to honor his achievements.
Following the celebration, Gronkowski took to social media to share his gratitude and excitement. He posted a series of photos from the event, with the first image featuring him alongside his beaming girlfriend, Camille Kostek. The heartfelt caption that accompanied the post expressed his deep appreciation for the honor.

“Thank you to the City of Buffalo for inducting me into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame!” Gronkowski wrote. “My foundation of grit, confidence, and success growing up was built through all my friendships, teachers, coaches, and my family.” He concluded the post with a few hashtags, including “Buffalo,” “halloffame,” and “whatsnext??” signaling both his gratitude and his ever-playful personality.
Camille Kostek, 32, also shared her own excitement about the event. Posting a selfie to her Instagram, Kostek thanked the local glam squad for helping her get ready for the special occasion, adding, “Shoutout to this Buffalo glam squad who quickly got me ready for the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.” The couple, who have been together for several years, looked elated as they celebrated Gronkowski’s induction.
Gronkowski’s career in the NFL spanned over a decade, starting with the New England Patriots in 2010.
He quickly established himself as one of the league’s most dominant tight ends, earning multiple Pro Bowl selections and helping lead the Patriots to three Super Bowl victories. In March 2019, Gronkowski announced his retirement from the NFL, but his break from football was short-lived.
In 2020, Gronkowski returned to the NFL after being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reuniting with his longtime quarterback and friend, Tom Brady.
The duo brought their championship pedigree to Tampa, and Gronkowski played a key role in helping the Buccaneers win Super Bowl LV, adding a fourth championship to his collection—his first outside of New England.
As his NFL career wound down, Gronkowski briefly entertained the idea of playing for his hometown team, the Buffalo Bills. During an interview on WGR Radio, Gronkowski revealed that there was a chance, however small, that he could have ended his career in Buffalo.
“My second year in Tampa, I hit free agency for the first time ever, so I just talked to the Bills a little bit,” he said. “It was like a five percent chance that I was going to be a Buffalo Bill my last year of playing in the NFL.” Reflecting on the opportunity, Gronkowski added, “It was always a dream to play for the Buffalo Bills. It doesn’t always work out.”
Since retiring for a second time in the summer of 2022, Gronkowski has found new ways to stay connected to the sport he loves. He has become a prominent voice in football media, joining Fox Sports as one of their key NFL analysts.
Throughout the NFL season, Gronkowski regularly contributes to both NFL Sunday and NFL Kickoff on the network, offering his insight, humor, and charismatic personality to fans.
Gronkowski’s induction into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame serves as a testament to his impact on the sport of football, as well as his deep connection to his hometown.
From his days growing up in Amherst to his time dominating the NFL and his current role as a broadcaster, Gronkowski’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable.
The ceremony at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center was not just a celebration of his on-field success, but also a recognition of the lasting influence he has had on the Buffalo community and the sport as a whole.
