Jaxson Dart threw two brutal interceptions on game-winning drive attempts with Ole Miss (#9) suffering a shock defeat to Florida in the SEC which is likely to have huge implications… with the quarterback publicly apologizing to his team and it’s fans.
The unranked Gators had battled with Ole Miss throughout the game with freshman quarterback DJ Lagway doing enough to lead an impressive touchdown drive with less than eight minutes to go, with the Rebels needing to respond.
Dart threw a brutal interception just a minute later in what looked to be head-scratching decision, throwing the ball into triple coverage which had given Florida the opportunity to see out the game. But after an impressive defense stop, Dart and Ole Miss were given another chance to go and win the game, before their quarterback overthrew his receiver which would have been a touchdown before throwing another pick on a wayward attempt to end the game.

The defeat is sure to to take Ole Miss outside of the playoff spots, with the school now looking extremely unlikely to make it to the postseason with three losses on their record.
The loss comes just one week after Dart and Ole Miss put in a sensational performance to shock the Georgia Bulldogs with a 28-10 win, with the quarterback emotionally apologizing to his team – with him set to leave the school for the NFL Draft after this season.
He said: “I think the only thing I can really say right now is sorry. Sorry to my teammates. Sorry to my coaches. Sorry for the fans. Can’t lose these games. This one’s gonna hurt for a really long time.”
The defeat not only ends Ole Miss’ chances for the playoffs, but also will destroy whatever chance Dart had of winning the Heisman Trophy – being seen as one of the favorites heading into this week alongside the likes of Travis Hunter, Cam Ward and Ashton Jeanty.
The Rebels will play their last regular season on Friday, coming up against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl in what is set to be Dart’s final appearance before he’ll turn his attentions to the draft class – where he is expected to be a day two pick.
