Former NFL star Chad Ochocinco has revealed that he used to apply his teammates’ urine to his ankles in a disgusting routine during his 11 years on the field.

The ex-Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver became part of the furniture at Paul Brown Stadium during his ten-campaign stint before his move to the New England Patriots. After making an appearance at Super Bowl XLVI, the player then spent preseason with the Miami Dolphins before spells in Canada and Mexico.

After hanging up his cleats for good in 2017, Ochocinco has reflected on one shock habit that became a custom for him during his playing days. Appearing on a podcast alongside Rudy Gay, The Kid Mero, and Kazeem Famuyid, he divulged that he went to some grim lengths in an attempt to stave off injury.

During what was a revelatory appearance on 7 PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony, the ex-football star recalled that he would collect urine from his colleagues before applying it to his ankles. He remembered: “You know what I did for ankle sprains? I would collect warm urine from my teammates, heat it up and put my ankle in it for 30 minutes.”

“There a reason I never been injured, home remedies. I’m sitting here living proof. So you wouldn’t soak your [ankles] to play in a game? You warm it up about 30 seconds in the microwave,” he said, before Anthony interjected, saying: “Man, I’m just gonna play with a f—– up ankle!”

Ochocinco also went into detail about his methods when it came to collecting urine from his teammates in the locker room in a stunning admission. He continued: “I give you some water. ‘Here drink this water, boy. When you gotta pee, boy, put in this cup.’

“It’s a good thing. This is how I was able to collect it all at one time, right?” You got team meetings in the morning, right? Everybody: ‘Hey y’all, boy, do me a favor, boy. My ankle kind of f—– up, I need you to all y’all to drink water at one time. So when we break meeting, if y’all pee it’s a bucket in the bathroom.’ Boom. Y’all all peeing that bucket for me.”

This is not the first time that Ochocinco has opened up on this odd routine from his playing days. He previously told Shannon Sharpe: “I put my ankle that’s swollen or sprained, warm it up really hot, sit my foot in the urine, and the heat and the toxins from the urine would absorb all the swelling out.

“I swear, if I got a high ankle sprain on Wednesday and we playing on Sunday, by Friday I was able to do that fast walkthrough practice and play the game fully healthy Sunday. That’s why I played a full career with no injuries because I had home remedies that got me through.”
