New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen was spotted at Colorado’s football practice on Tuesday with head coach Deion Sanders, creating speculation that the team could target Shedeur Sanders in the 2024 NFL Draft. The visit also comes days after the Giants parted ways with Daniel Jones as the franchise, and fans are eager for a new franchise leader to take the team out of their 2-9 slump.

An online video clip showed Schoen observing the Buffaloes‘ practice from the sidelines, conversing with Coach Prime and his staff. Although Shedeur wasn’t visible in the footage, the timing of his presence at Boulder sent social media into madness.

Giants fans flooded the comments after analyzing the GM’s visit as a sign that Shedeur, who is in the top five in the nation in yards [3,488], touchdowns [30], and completion percentage [73.4], could be the answer to New York’s quarterback woes. After moving on from Jones, the Giants’ depth chart features DeVito, 2019 draft pick Drew Lock, and veteran Tim Boyle.

“Draft Shedeur & bring back [Pat] Shurmur at OC,” one fan suggested, referencing Pat Shurmur, an ex-Giants head coach who now serves as the coordinator at Colorado. Another fan expressed skepticism about the organization’s future, writing: “These guys will be fired at the end of the season, but at least they’re trying to make it look good for the Giants.”

Others speculated about pairing Shedeur with LSU standout and Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, with one fan saying, “Shedeur and Nabers is going to be a nasty combo.” After its most recent loss, Nabers called the team ‘soft’ and voiced frustration with a lack of targets.

The Giants are tied with a league-worst 2-9 record and will likely secure a top-five pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Their first post-Jones game was a landslide loss, as they were routed 30-7 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

DeVito struggled while completing 21 of 31 passes for 189 yards and no touchdowns. After being sacked four times, DeVito took a nasty shot when Tampa Bay’s Calijah Kancey leveled him in the backfield, leaving his cleats pointed nearly skyward. To add insult to injury, Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield celebrated a touchdown with an exaggerated Italian hand gesture, mocking DeVito’s marketing as an Italian-American underdog.

Coach Sanders voiced his intention to intervene in the 2025 NFL Draft to ensure his son is selected by a team that aligns with their criteria. During an appearance on FS1’s “SPEAK,” Sanders was asked by host Keyshawn Johnson about his willingness to step in if the “wrong team” attempts to draft Shedeur.

Sanders responded: “Yeah, but I’m not going to do it publicly; I’ll do it privately. I’m going to be a dad until the cows come home, and that goes with Travis [Hunter] as well.”
