Kevin Kisner recorded an unwanted TGL first on Tuesday after the Jupiter Links man hit a brutal shank during his match with The Bay Golf Club.
With Tiger Woods sitting out the match, Kisner was joined by Tom Kim and Max Homa to take on an in-form Bay at the SoFi Center. And the form book did not lie on Tuesday, as The Bay continued their 100 percent record, winning the match 6-3 to leave them 4-0 at the top of the standings.
It was a tough night for Jupiter, who was hoping to bank their second win of the inaugural season and move themselves onto the right side of the playoff cut line.
It was not to be though, as they failed to topple Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, and Shane Lowry. One of the worst moments of the night for Jupiter Links came at the par-three fifth hole, with Kisner the man on the tee, looking to get his team back into it after falling one down earlier on.
With the 177-yard pin in his sights and the 60-foot screen in front of him, Kisner went on to hit the shot that every golfer at all levels dreads, the shank. His attempt immediately flew right, as the PGA Tour star looked around in disbelief.
Kisner himself called the shot as it left the club face, crying “shank!” as it hurled right and away from the green. A whole host of laughter was heard from those watching on in the SoFi Center. One man who was in attendance was Kisner’s former PGA Tour ally, Brooks Koepka.

According to Golf Channel, the LIV Golf star brutally took to his feet to give Kisner a standing ovation on the back of his embarrassing miss. Despite Kisner’s brutal tee shot, Jupiter Links went on to win the hole, as his teammates Homa and Kim were able to get up and down for par, whilst The Bay made bogey.
On the back of their defeat, Kisner was quizzed about his shank, but simply replied: “You mean the hole we won?” He then went on to delve into the mishap, adding: ” It’s all about angles in golf, and mine got a little too close angled to the hosel on that one.
“But I was telling them that I stood over it, and it’s so weird because you don’t hit shots forever and then you get in these weird rhythms, and I was like, man, this doesn’t feel right, oh, I’m good, hiyaah, and then I was, man, I wonder where that is going to end up.”
Homa and Kim did of course go on to deliver his goods, and the former had no issue with his teammate over the position he put him in for shot two. You always pick up your teammates,” said Homa. “Kis is one of my best buddies. I was never going to let him down.” Seeing the positives, he added: “He gave me a number I could spin, which was very nice, no hill in my way.”
