INTERNET – A bizarre and explosive conspiracy theory, once confined to the deepest corners of the internet, has breached the mainstream after being amplified by several high-profile political commentators. The theory alleges that Elon Musk is not merely a gifted entrepreneur, but the product of a top-secret government program from the 1980s known as “Project Prometheus,” aimed at creating “cognitively enhanced individuals” to lead America’s technological future.
Proponents of the theory point to Musk’s extraordinary and diverse skill set—in rocketry, automotive engineering, neurotechnology, and artificial intelligence—as “proof” of unnatural development. They cite his South African origins as a cover story, suggesting he was conceived via genetic engineering and raised in a controlled environment before being “placed” in his family.
“No single human being can revolutionize that many disparate, complex industries in two decades. It defies statistical probability,” wrote the author of a popular blog dedicated to the theory. “He is a designed asset, activated to ensure American technological supremacy.”
While mainstream scientists and historians have dismissed the theory as “absurd science fiction,” it has found fertile ground among a public already primed for conspiracies. The theory is being used by some anti-Musk factions to paint him as an inhuman, government-controlled entity, while some of his more fervent supporters have embraced it as confirmation of his “superhuman” status.
The White House has not dignified the theory with a response, but its spread marks a new, surreal chapter in the battle over Musk’s identity and influence.
