Andy Roddick believes Novak Djokovic’s Olympic win was ‘more impressive’ than if he had won 2 Majors in 2024

Novak Djokovic had a mediocre season on the ATP Tour in 2024 but what he wanted to achieve the most he achieved. He has 24 Grand Slam titles to his trophy cabinet, but the Olympic gold medal had eluded him in his previous four appearance in the quadrennial event.

He had his eyes set on the gold medal in Paris, knowing that it was probably his last chance to make his country proud. At the Paris Olympics, he reached the final and faced Carlos Alcaraz who made his debut at the Games after accomplishing the Channel Slam by winning the French Open and Wimbledon (by beating Djokovic in the final).

Djokovic fought hard in the final and won the match in straight sets which also included a pair of tie-breaks, and according to Andy Roddick, winning the gold medal was more impressive than if the Serb had won two Majors.

At Wimbledon Djokovic played his first tour-level final, with Shanghai Masters being the second one. The Serb not only failed to win a Major in 2024 but ended his season without winning a trophy on the tour.

Novak Djokovic extended his winning streak to 20-0 over Gael Monfils when they faced each other in the second round at the 2025 Brisbane International. After the win, Djokovic had some kind words for the Frenchman against whom he wants to play more before retirement.

Djokovic has reached the quarterfinals where he is set to lock horns with Reilly Opelka. The 24-time Grand Slam champion had also played doubles with Nick Kyrgios in the tournament but their campaign ended when they lost to the pair of Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus in the second round.
