New England Patriots star Drake Maye was on hand to help out some fans at training camp after the quarterback helped them choose their fantasy draft order ahead of the 2025 NFL season

While New England Patriots star Drake Maye is preparing for his sophomore NFL season, fans across the country are gearing up for the start of their fantasy football seasons.

Despite posting a second straight 4-13 season last year, expectations surrounding New England are high after they hired former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and spent big in free agency. However, while the Patriots are currently in training camp preparing for the new season, football fans are firing up their laptops to draft the players who will guide them to a fantasy championship.

While Mirror U.S. Sport has you covered for the players you should look to avoid, some fans in attendance at Patriots training camp may not even have a chance to pick their favorite NFL stars in the first round, thanks to Maye.

The New England quarterback was asked by a group of fans to randomise their fantasy draft order heading into the new season, with Maye more than happy to help them out after he had finished practice.

“After practice, can you randomize our fantasy football draft order?” asked the fan in question, to which Maye replied: “I got you, I got you.”

Then after practice, Maye was true to his word. The fans at training camp handed him a sign with their names on, asking Maye to just randomly number them one through 10.

The lucky recipient of the first overall pick was Anees, with Michalis, Marc, Antonio and Marcus picking second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Maye then gave Jacob, Sammy, Nicholas and Andrew picks six through to nine, before giving Gianni the final pick of the round.

“Amazing. These guys got Drake Maye to do their draft order #FantasyLife,” wrote fantasy football expert Matthew Berry on social media after seeing the interaction between the Patriots star and the fans at training camp.

The interaction also went down well on social media, with some other fans adamant that Maye now needed to go first overall. “Obligation to take him 1.01 now right?” wrote one fan in response on X.

“Maye def gonna be the first QB off the board in this league,” added a second. A third wrote: “A man of the people.” And a fourth commented: “What an absolute legend!”

Speaking after Wednesday’s joint training camp practice with the Washington Commanders, Maye said: “I think it was good for us.

“It was good for us to see a defense that does a lot of things. They got us a few times; I felt like we got them. So, it’s good for us to see that and experience a new defense that’s very different from Washington and very different from our defense.”
