The New England Patriots are currently holding a joint practice session with the Minnesota Vikings, with their head coach getting involved in a fight for the second time this preseason
New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel found himself involved involved in a brawl between players for the second time this training camp.
The Patriots are currently holding a joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings ahead of their preseason game with them this weekend, going head-to-head in drills. These sessions regularly see players get chippy with one another, only being supposed to go with light contact ahead of a game, but fights and disagreements are known to break out.
This had been the case last week, when New England held a similar style session with the Washington Commanders, as Vrabel jumped in to a fight with players. He was seen bleeding from his face after jumping into an altercation when his team practiced with the Vikings. Incredibly, he was seen doing the same thing this week.
Reporters had captured the moment that players from both teams were tied up, with Vrabel close to the situation and looking to break it up quickly.
More players had joined in, with Vrabel finding himself right in the middle of the situation as he attempted to deescalate the ensuing brawl between players from both teams.
A former player himself, being a hard-headed linebacker, Vrabel has shown that he’s not afraid of stamping his authority down, while hoping to lead the organization back to the top.
Vrabel is in his first year as Patriots head coach after taking over from Jerod Mayo, who endured a difficult one-and-done after he followed on from Bill Belichick – who was said to have a hand in the selection process.
Many fans had hoped to see Vrabel take over last year, after he was surprisingly fired by the Tennessee Titans, despite leading the team to an impressive 54-45 record – while taking over a struggling team beforehand.
Vrabel was not hired for the 2024 season, having a year away from being a head coach while working with the Cleveland Browns as a coaching and personnel assistant
The Patriots will hope to see development from quarterback Drake Maye, after selecting him with the third overall pick in the 2024 draft class.
New England has a notably easier schedule this season, and is expected to challenge for the playoffs under Vrabel.
