President Donald Trump may claim to be an elite golfer, but Vice President JD Vance had a moment to forget on the course after going viral for four-putting on the green

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has gone viral after he was filmed four-putting at President Donald Trump’s golf course in Turnberry, Scotland.

Trump is an avid golfer and has reportedly spent 20 percent of his second term on the course. Vance decided to hit the links at Trump’s course after taking a vacation to the U.K., shortly after the U.S. President visited Scotland and was accused of cheating while playing at his Turnberry resort.

Vance was filmed struggling to put the ball during his round, and one clip showed him needing four efforts after reaching the green. Typically, golfers aim for a maximum of two putts, but four is seen as a disaster.

Trump is frequently seen on the golf course, and his ability has been praised by legends such as Jack Nicklaus. Vance’s skillset isn’t as publicized, but his unfortunate four-putt did him no favors.

“Oh man, I can’t vote for him now,” one fan joked on X, as Vance has been rumored to run for president once Trump’s second term ends in 2028. “Well, he’s not a golfer like Trump,” another added.

“Lol, he’s trash,” one fan wrote. However, Vance also received a lot of support as other golfers related to his nightmare attempt on the green.

“I finally feel represented in politics,” one fan joked. “I’ve never related to a Vice President more,” another added. “Four-putt with a gimme, truly a man of the people,” one fan claimed.

While Vance failed to showcase his skills, golf icon Nicklaus suggested that Trump is one of the best celebrities he’s seen play. Nicklaus has golfed with several presidents in the past, but Trump stands out.

“Well, the ones Ive played with, actually, Trump is probably the best player,” Nicklaus said to Bloomberg. “Trump plays pretty well. He plays a little bit like I do.

“He doesnt really ever finish many holes. But he can hit the ball, and he goes out and plays and just enjoys it. But hes won several club championships. He can play.”

Nicklaus then recalled playing with former presidents Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton. “Gerald Ford, I must have played 50 rounds with Ford,” Nicklaus added.

“I used to play with him at the AT&T [Pebble Beach Pro-Am] every year. And Ford was a 13 handicap, but he played to a 13 handicap. Clinton, I never knew what Clinton might do. He might play to a 10 or he might play to a 30. But he had a nice golf swing.

“All these guys enjoyed playing golf. I dont think any one of them really were very serious about the game. But they all enjoyed playing, and its good for the game of golf to have the president of the United States say, you know, this is my game.”
