Michigan running back Kalel Mullings has announced his declaration for the 2025 NFL Draft in a social media statement.
Mullings had been revelling in a career-best season in 2024 with him racking up 185 carries for 948 yards and 12 touchdowns across 12 appearances for Michigan. The 22-year-old finished his fifth season with the Wolverines and was named a third-team All-Big Ten selection.
After converting from linebacker to running back, Mullings has overcome a number of tough moments to make himself a crucial player during Michigans championship run, with his blend of power and speed seeing him become one of the biggest rushing threats in college football.
Such has been his performances and the NFL attention on his season, Mullings announced on social media that he has declared for the 2025 draft. Firstly, I wanna give thanks to God because without him none of this would be possible, Mullings began his statement. I am so grateful for all of the challenges and blessings that have led me to where I am today.
To my parents, thank you for being there with me since the beginning. You both have made countless sacrifices to help me chase my dreams and for that I am forever grateful. To coach Harbaugh and coach Moore, thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend and compete at a high level at this university.
To coach Alford and coach Hart, thank you for pushing me and shaping me into the player I am today. To my teammates, it was an honor to compete alongside you. Ill always cherish the bonds and memories we share. To the rest of my family, friends, and coaches. Your support has meant more to me than words can describe.
To the University of Michigan, the last five years at this University have shaped me into the man I am today, Mullings wrote. I am proud to be an alumnus of the greatest University in the world. I am excited to announce I am officially declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.
According to multiple reports, Mullings has not traveled with the Wolverines to Tampa for the ReliaQuest Bowl against Alabama on New Years Eve. Meaning his final game came at the end of November as he ran 116 yards and scored Michigans only touchdown in a 13-10 upset win over Ohio State. Defensive tackles Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, cornerback Will Johnson and tight end Colston Loveland have also opted out of the bowl.
According to NFL Draft Buzz, Mullings is rated as the No. 96 overall prospect, the No. 11 rated running back, and projected as a solid 3rd round draft pick. He has also drawn comparisons to current NFL running back and former Wisconsin RB Braelon Allen.
